God created a system in which relationships are unavoidable. In this divine system relationships are the anatomy of all the parts of life. To experience with any significance what Jesus calls “life abundantly”, (John 10:10) each of us has to interact righteously in many different relationships. But you know as well as I do, we struggle with growing relationships that are grounded in agape love and structurally built on Biblical principles. So how do we go about growing the multiple relationships we find ourselves in willingly and sometimes not so willingly? Beginning February 3rd and continuing each Wednesday night through March 24th FCC will be offering a number of adult classes addressing how to grow some of the relationships that you have. Below you will find a description of those classes and the dates they will be available. Each class will use principles out of God’s Manufacturer’s Manual for Living (the Bible) and pair them with practical ways you can use them to grow the relationships you find yourself in. We hope you will use these classes to experience “life abundantly” in 2010. 101 Connecting to Fairmount: Connection 101 is a four week class designed for new members, people wanting to know more about Fairmount, and “old-timers” who want to brush up a little on the background of our church. This four-week course is a mixture of “what we believe” and the history and structure of our congregation. If you have questions about Fairmount or if you just want to see what we are all about, this is the class for you. 301 Connecting to Your Ministry: This class will assist in connecting you to a place to serve. In doing so, this class will identify your SHAPE for service; as you discover and analyze your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experiences. Growing Up As a Child of God: The first and foremost relationship anyone has is with God. As a Christian your spiritual Father expects His child to grow up a certain way. He has expectations of how His child should think, live, and act. The Heavenly Father has laid down these boundaries for our protection and so we can be productive spiritually, mentally and physically. This eight week class will examine how you are to grow up as a child of God and live an abundant and satisfied life. Raising Godly Children: As parents, you have a great responsibility and opportunity to mold and shape your child. This class will give you biblical and practical ways to impress upon your child godly values. Raising Godly Teens: Being a teenager today is a lot different than when you were one. This class will give you some perspective on what your teen is going through and also give you the tools to raise them to be the godly adults God wants them to be. Making the Most of Your Marriage: This is a 4 week video series featuring teacher Dr. John Maxwell. Dr. Maxwell uses humor, stories and years of experience to teach married couples how they can make the most of their marriage. This video and debriefing time is for marriages running on all cylinders and those needing a tune-up. Growing this relationship cannot be put on autopilot. Come and hear all the practical ways Dr. John Maxwell has to grow your marriage.
Single Parenting that Works: Dr. Kevin Lehman will be the video instructor for this eight week class. Dr. Lehman is witty and well qualified to address the parenting challenges. Single Parenting that Works is a study designed to encourage single parents to build healthy relationships with their ex-spouses and to raise their children to love and honor the Lord. This study will help parents understand that they are not alone in the challenges they face. Parents will find practical, biblically sound guidance on being loving, caring, and effective parents to their children. Extreme Grandparenting: Tim Kimmel and Darcy Kimmel will be the video instructors for this four week class. Grandparents play a vital role in the lives of their grandchildren, not only as a mentor and loving family member, but as a spiritual rock during the hard times. Extreme Grandparenting shows how to make the most of their role as a grandparent and how to grow the next generation for greatness. |
