In 2012, is it possible that the world might end; your financial picture gets prettier; you become the parent you want to be and your child becomes the child you want them to be; you personally affect public elections; find your way through your grief; or make deeper connections with your church? Our winter Wednesday night series has been designed for you to consider such possibilities in 2012. Below you will find a list of class offerings lasting from 2,4, 6 and 8 weeks that you can choose from. Our classes will begin on February 1 and conclude March 21, with a weather make-up date on March 28 if needed.
Bible Study: End Times (Maybe)
Instructor: Geoff Johnson
Odds are, you’ve heard of a Mayan “prophecy” that the world will end on December 21, 2012. This isn’t the first frenzy over the end of the world, and it likely won’t be the last. The first four weeks of this eight week study will separate fact from hype; revealing the truth behind the 2012 “apocalypse” stories currently circulating in the media as well as other end-times prophecies and myths. The final four weeks will concentrate on the most prominent apocalyptic passages of the Bible. We won’t be looking for codes or hidden timelines but we’ll explore the timeless spiritual truth the Scriptures convey. (February 1 - March 21)
American Heritage Series
Facilitators: Jim Bland & Rob McGhee
For centuries, Americans were taught a truthful view of history that recognized the Godly heroes and moral foundation upon which our nation was founded. In recent years, a new version of history has assaulted the moral and spiritual fiber of our nation, leaving the truth of the past often eliminated and forgotten -- until today! From the heroism of our founding fathers to the separation of church and state, the civil rights movement, and the building of our nation's monuments, this series will inspire every American to reclaim the Godly, true story of our nation. The series will deal with Christianity and how it had an influence on forging America. Current political issues and candidates will not be discussed during class time. This eight week DVD series is taught by David Barton. (February 1 - March 21)
