Give online here
“Be a servant—give yourself”. This is a multi-dimensional approach to
giving. It shows that giving doesn’t mean just putting money in the
plate as it passes. It means to give yourself, to give your all. You
see, just simply putting money in the plate is not the end to giving in
the Church. Like the war effort of 60 years ago, every Christian has to
give all they can and more...and have the proper heart. Most people
during World War II didn’t just buy War Bonds because it was the thing
to do. They bought them because there was a purpose—so ensure the
continuation of their freedoms and lives. Knowing the consequences of
doing nothing, the people at home had the proper frame of mind, were in
the proper heart of the matter when asked to buy these bonds.
Men and women sacrificed for the war effort. They gave up travel to
preserve rubber and gasoline, they gave up coffee, sugar, flour and
many vegetables and fruits for the boys overseas. They knew they had to
sacrifice at home just as our soldiers were sacrificing in Europe and
in the Pacific. And they did this without asking honor upon themselves.
They sacrificed and gave anonymously, just as we were taught to do by
Paul in II Corinthians. Rick pointed out to us that Paul credits the
churches in Macedonia with giving above and beyond what they were asked
to do. But Paul doesn’t mention a specific church of specific people.
It was the churches of Macedonia. It wasn’t Franklin Roosevelt or
Winston Churchill who won the war, it was the millions of soldiers and
the 130 million people at home who worked and gave and sacrificed above
and beyond what they were asked to do that won the war. They made it a
personal quest to preserve their way of life and better the lives of
their neighbors...even if their neighbors were ten thousand miles away.
As part of our effort to making giving easier, Fairmount now allows
online giving through a direct transaction with your bank. You may make
a one-time gift or set up a recurring gift. You may give to our General
Fund, the Expansion Fund (Bridge to the Future) or to Missions. Go here to set up your online giving account.
