After the resurrection, the Bible tells us that Jesus appeared to his disciples several times over a forty day period before ascending into Heaven. The final instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples are found in Acts 1:8. Jesus tells them, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Jesus’ words outline a plan for the impact that his followers were to have. They were to begin where they lived in Jerusalem and eventually work their way out to the rest of the world. Fairmount, dedicated to being a Bible-centered church, has sought to follow the plan that Jesus outlined for his disciples in regards to our church’s ministry and missions emphasis.
At Fairmount, we call our missions ministry the IMPACT Ministry. Our goal is to impact the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the model of Jesus’ plan from Acts 1:8 our IMPACT Ministry is broken down into four areas.
- Our Jerusalem is the metro Richmond area
- Our Judea is the commonwealth of Virginia
- Our Samaria is the United States
- Our ends of the earth is the rest of the world outside the United States
