Driving down the road recently, I was, as usual, tuned in to sports radio listening to the afternoon chatter. When it came time for a commercial, the familiar voice of former Indianapolis Colt’s coach, Tony Dungy, came over the airwaves. In that short spot, Coach Dungy told the story of Jim Redmond who helped his son, Derek, cross the finish line at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, after the runner had blown out his hamstring in a race that he had trained for all his life. That spot, along with several others that I have now enjoyed, fall into the theme of what Coach Dungy calls “uncommon” - men doing extraordinary, uncommon things in the midst of this culture that so often stresses conformity and political correctness. What I have since learned is that Dungy has written a book for men by that name, Uncommon. I am enjoying that book now.

Some topics are tough—stewardship is one of those topics. Over the next three weeks, we're going to examine three areas of stewardship: our treasure, our temple and our time. To help us get through these tough topics beginning with the letter 'T', we've got one of the toughest people on earth—Mr. T*.
